Cu Lao Cham
The pearl of Quang Nam floats 18 kilometers to the east of Cua Dai Beach in the town of Hoi An. Rarely does a trip to the ancient lack a day or two spared to pay homage to Cu Lao Cham. ‘Cu lao’ means island in Vietnamese, and in the case of Cu Lao Cham, it's several small islands. The place boasts long beaches lying serenely by the crystal clear waters and coral reefs just two meters underwater that render diving for sightseeing here all the rage.

Ba Be Lake, Bac Kan
Ba Be lake, which means ‘Three Lakes’ in English, is located in the northern province of Bac Kan, about 240 kilometers northwest of the capital Hanoi. Surrounded by limestone cliffs, Vietnam’s largest natural freshwater lake stretches about eight kilometers north to south and reaches depths of 35 meters. It takes visitors at least two days to explore the lake, not to mention the nearby caves and a spectacular waterfall further upstream.

Vietnam's resort town asks visitors to have a little respect

The move comes after a recent crackdown on illegal Chinese tour guides.

The popular resort town of Nha Trang in the central province of Khanh Hoa has issued a code of conduct warning tourists against spreading false information that could taint its image.

According to the code, which took effect on August 17, visitors to Nha Trang are asked not to violate laws or provide false information about the city's history.

With an eye on the afterlife, resting places are of the utmost importance to Vietnamese people, and past monarchs with a nearly unlimited supply of money didn't hold back on their journeys to the underworld. "Life is temporary, death is permanent," was the reason many decided to build splendid and sophisticated tombs. Rulers of the past put a ridiculously huge amount of effort into creating a tomb befitting of their position. Feng Shui was employed to find the best rsting place, while money and thousands of hours of labor were poured in to remind the next generations of how important out rulers were, leaving a lasting legacy.


My Son Holy Land, site of the Champa culture

Champa culture had great influences on Vietnam’s cultural values of significance. The former capital of the Champa Kingdom from 4th to 15th century was My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam province, central Vietnam. 

This is a large complex of religious monuments originally consisting of more than 70 structures but only the vestiges of 25 remain today. The builders of My Son were the nobility of the Champa Kingdom who derived their cultural and spiritual influences almost exclusively from India.

Vietnam seeks ways to earn more from tourists

Vietnam should learn from the tourism industry of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore or China, says Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue. 

How do these countries persuade tourists to spend their last penny while foreign tourists do not return to Vietnam, Hue asked at a recent conference discussinga draft plan on tourism development to 2020.
According to the plan, by 2020 tourism would become a key economic industry of Vietnam. The industry will be able to compete with other countries and become a developed industry in the next 10 years.

Ha Long Bay among Top 3 places to visit in Southeast Asia

Ha Long Bay has been ranked third in a list of the 29 Best Places to Visit in Southeast Asia by Touropia, an international travel website featuring the most amazing sights around the world divided into various “Best of” lists.

“Located in northeastern Vietnam, Ha Long Bay resembles a scene from a fantasy story with its thousands of limestone karst islands of different shapes and sizes,” the website explained.
“Some of the islands contain lakes while some are hollow, with a colorful fairyland of grottoes inside.”

Quang Ninh province, home of Ha Long Bay, has recently provided three new experiences for tourists.

In June it opened a cable car line 2.2 km in length, from Bai Chay Beach to Ba Deo Mountain.
The cable car has two cabins and can transport about 2,000 people an hour.

It was certified by Guinness World Records as the largest in the world, with one cabin holding up to 230 people, and for having the world’s highest pillar, at 188.88 meters above the ground.


Tours to new cave in Quang Binh now open

Cave tours to the recently-discovered Tu Lan Cave system, 70 kilometers from the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province, have now been connected to tours to the Tien 1 and Tien 2 Cave systems, discovered in 2014 and 2016, respectively.


There are now eleven destinations to visit during tours to Tu Lan Cave, eight in Tan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, including Chuot, Hung Ton, Ken, Kim, Song, Uoi, Bi Mat, and Tu Lan Caves, and three in Cao Quang commune, Tuyen Hoa district, including Tien 1 and Tien 2 Caves and Mooc Lake.
